This page explains what other players see of your hunting, and what you see of theirs: ratings, favourites, alerts, badges and ranks, and how to report something wrong. It is for every player.

Ratings

A cache page shows its Rating: the average of 1 to 5 stars and the number of ratings. You rate with the stars under it. Tap again to change your rating; each callsign has one rating per cache.

The owner decides who may rate when they hide the cache:

Who can rate Who may rate
Finders only (default) A callsign with a verified find on this cache
Anyone signed in Every signed-in player
Nobody (disabled) Nobody

A verified find means a Radio-verified or Location-verified find (How finds are verified). If you may not rate, the page says Log a verified find to rate this cache or Sign in to rate.

Favourites

The heart at the top of a cache page marks it as a favourite. The number beside it counts everyone who did. Tap it again to take your favourite back.

Alerts and the watchlist

The watchlist watches callsigns, not caches. Add a friend's callsign and you get an alert when the network hears it.

  1. Tap the bell in the top bar. Alerts opens. Settings → Notifications → Watchlist shows the same list.
  2. Type the callsign in Watch a callsign, for example OE8APR, and tap Watch. The callsign shows as a chip. Tap the chip to stop watching.

You get at most one alert an hour for each callsign. When the station is about 500 m or less from a cache, the alert names the cache.

The bell shows how many alerts you have not seen yet. Mark all seen clears the count. Two more ways to get alerts:

  • Browser push: tap Enable. The instance must offer push, and on an iPhone you install the app to your home screen first. Signing out turns push off in that browser.
  • Email digest: alerts batched into an email, off until you turn it on. It needs an email on your account. The subject says what the alerts are about, and the mail links your instance. To stop it, turn off Email digest, or open the unsubscribe link at the end of the mail and confirm. Your mail program's Unsubscribe button does the same in one step.

The same alerts list the finds on your caches and the finds your station verified. They also tell you about cache adoption (Cache adoption).

Badges

Badges show on your profile under You. Hold a pointer over a badge to see how you earned it. Only verified finds count, each cache once.

Badge How you earn it
First find Your first verified find
10 finds 10 verified finds
50 finds 50 verified finds
100 finds 100 verified finds
500 finds 500 verified finds
Radio-verified One Radio-verified find
Summiteer A verified find on a SOTA summit
Park hunter A verified find on a POTA park
Rover hunter A verified find on a living cache
Flora & fauna A verified find on a WWFF reserve
Castle hunter A verified find on a castle
Bunker hunter A verified find on a bunker
Hider Your first hidden cache
Cache architect 5 hidden caches
Cache master 20 hidden caches

Hide badges count the caches you own that are not archived. A badge stays once you have it.

Ranks

Ranks shows the leaderboard for the area on your map. Tap Points or Finds to sort it, and All time, Year or Month to count every find, the last 365 days or the last 30 days. Move the map and tap ↻ this area to load a new area. Tap a callsign to see that player's finds, points, hides and badges.

Each cache you found counts once, with your best find on it. Its points are:

Part Points
Radio-verified find 10
Location-verified find 5
Difficulty 1 to 5
Terrain 1 to 5

So a Location-verified find on a cache with difficulty 2 and terrain 1.5 earns 5 + 2 + 1.5 = 8.5 points.

Only verified finds by verified callsigns reach the board (Verify your callsign). A Logged find is not verified, so it earns no points and no badges. Your profile counts your verified finds and points even before your callsign is verified.

Finds you log under an SSID, such as OE8APR-7, count for your base callsign. Owners don't log their own caches as found, so a cache never earns its owner points.

Activity shows recent finds in your area, the Top finders, and the Top corroborators. A corroborator is a receiving station whose radio heard finds on the air and made them Radio-verified (corroboration). If your station did that, your profile shows Infrastructure with the number of finds it corroborated.

When two living caches meet, both record a rendezvous. It shows on the cache page and earns no points (Living caches).

Share and export

  • On a cache page, Copy link copies a link to it. QR shows a QR code to print and place at your station or the site; download SVG saves it. Either opens the map on the cache, for a visitor who is not signed in too.
  • On the map, Search & filter → Share this view copies a link to what you see.
  • Under You, Embed your badge shows an image of your all-time rank, verified finds, points and hides. Copy copies the HTML that shows it on QRZ.com, in a forum signature or on a club page. The image stays current.
  • On a cache page, GPX saves the cache as a waypoint for a GPS unit.
  • On the map, Search & filter → GPX or KML saves every cache in view, for a GPS unit or a map program. Zoom in if the view is too wide to export.
  • Both hold this instance's own caches. Places imported from other programmes stay under their source's terms, so they have no GPX button and stay out of the map's GPX and KML; their page links to the source.
  • On your profile, Download ADIF saves your finds, under any SSID of your call, for your logbook program.
  • On a station's page, Track KML saves its last 24 hours of positions for a map program.
  • Logbook and GPS tools can fetch the same files from the instance's public read API.

Report a problem

Something wrong on a cache page? Tap More (⋯) beside a cache, a log, a photo or a profile, then Report…. Pick what is wrong: Spam, Offensive, Wrong location or unsafe, Copyright or Other, and add a few words. Other needs the words. The report goes to your instance's sysop, who decides what to do. The person you report never learns who reported them. You can report without signing in, but less often.
